Mechanical

Many years or even decades of operation take their toll on mechanical components: heavy wear causes increased backlash of ball screws, rack and pinion system. Other causes are slip-stick phenomenon and vibrations due to free play.

Chatter marks, difficult to repair, are often caused by belts, pulleys and motors, but also found when bearings of the grinding wheel spindle are worn or damaged.

Gearboxes, ball screws or rack and pinion should provide full use of the drive performance. Accuracy and dynamic characteristic go with mechanical properties. Backlash, slip-stick and vibrations are the most common problem spots for NC-axis. Prior to drive upgrades, we recommend to improve the mechanical performance.
